I want to first say how grateful I am to RJ Ilg and his company, Independent Fine Homes, LLC for helping in the construction of my home. Without you, the building process would have been much more difficult, if not impossible. Our relationship started when my framer decided to turn down my job two weeks before he committed to start work. His decision really left me in a bind. It was September 05 and I had all of my trades lined up and construction has already begun. I received a phone call from Eric at and he told me that his company could not perform the work of framing my home. I started to scramble to fine another framing company. All of the good ones were very busy because construction in the Lakes Region was booming. There was a house under construction up the street from me, so I decided to stop by and see if these guys were available. The first person I met at the site was RJ Illg. He was a partner at Independent Fine Homes along with Bill Totten. I told RJ about my dilemma. His answer to me was, yes you do have a very big dilemma on your hands. He said he would have to talk with Bill and see if they could hire a couple extra crew people. RJ and Bill haD a meeting that next day and decided they would take the project on. They hired a 3 extra people and with 6 working days, they were on my job site, framing my home. What a relief, they saved the day. I had all of my trades scheduled out and if I missed the window with one, then all of the others that followed would have to be rescheduled at a later date, if at all. Remember, this was a boom period and all of the good trades were very busy. Once we missed a scheduled trade date, who knows when that trade would be able to come back and work on my home. Independent Fines Homes stuck with me throughout the project until their work was complete. They are not only great guys to work with, but their work is exceptional as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is doing a remodel to whole house construction. There are many things I liked about working with them, but here are just a few that I liked best. 1. They always answer or return phone calls. 2. They always talked with you and not at you in normal terms the average person can understand. 3. They are always personable and made you feel at ease. 4. They were always easy to work with. They let me have my say and then they would give me their opinion and talk with me as to how things should be done. Their opinions and expertise were invaluable.
