One of the thoughts I had when desinging this house was if there could be a room installed under the three car garage.  I enlisted the help of Chad Montrose from Rist-Frost Shumway Engineering, PC.  He said no problem and began to design the structure.  I now have a room with the same foot print of the garage in terms of floor space built underneath.  I thought this was a great use of space seeing I had to dig the footers anyway.  I now have a room that is totally encapsulated in concrete.  This would make for a safe place in the event of a bad storm.  I have insulated the floor, walls and ceiling.  I have installed heating and air conditioning.  Today it is used as a storage room, but with very little money, this could be turned into a home theater.  All you would need is flooring, upgraded lighting and some finish carpentry.  This would add approximately 800 SF of living space should one choose to finish this room.
